1/10How to read CORE-V core names

OPENHW ESSENTIALS · 01

CORE-V names are a compact architecture index

Decode CVE2, CV32E20, CV32E40P/X/S and CVA6 without confusing a family, repository, core, or configuration.

family / repopart numberconfigurationidentity CSRs

A CORE-V name narrows the search space. The specification, configuration table, release tag, and identity CSRs establish the implementation.

Narration

CORE-V uses short labels for several different technical objects. CVE2 and CVA6 can name a family or code base. CV32E20, CV32E40X, and CV32A60AX identify more specific cores or configurations. This lesson builds a practical decoder across the embedded two-stage, embedded four-stage, and application-class six-stage lines. We will also connect the human-readable name to the repository, verified configuration, release, and the machine-readable identity CSRs.
