One ecosystem, five different engineering layers

Separate the RISC-V standard, Eclipse governance, OpenHW collaboration, CORE-V processor IP, and the repositories that ship the work.

OpenHW does not define the RISC-V ISA. It organises member-driven work around open processor IP and related assets inside the Eclipse governance framework.

Narration

OpenHW sits in an ecosystem where similar names label different objects. RISC-V International maintains the ISA standard. Eclipse Foundation provides the legal, governance, IP, and collaboration framework. The OpenHW Foundation working group aligns members on strategy, roadmaps, engineering policy, and ecosystem programmes. CORE-V names processor families, while repositories contain concrete artifacts. This lesson separates the layers and routes each question to the right source.
